Walter Castellanos came to the United States in 2003 from El Salvador. He is the oldest of 4 children, raised by a single mother, who taught him to have strong values. Walter grew up in a country where Civil War was a part of his childhood, which inspired him to be an agent for social change.
While in the United States, working as a Janitor, Walter not only saw the struggles of working people, but felt those struggles. Walter became an active member of SEIU Local 26 and had a leadership role in winning a historical contract for the Justice for Janitor Campaign 2007. He has a strong commitment to worker rights and social justice.
