Laura Keys works with the Sheila Wellstone Institute and the Native American Leadership Program at Wellstone Action. Laura is a proud Native American woman from the Red Lake Band of Chippewa in Minnesota. She is the ninth child of Allen and Cynthia Sayers and has lived in the Twin Cities since 1979. She has been married for seven years and is the mother of five great children.
Laura is a 2006 graduate of the Wellstone Organizing Fellows, a new leadership training program for young leaders of color in Minnesota. She is new to organizing, and was inspired to get involved after learning about the mission and goals of Native Vote Alliance of Minnesota. She worked with the organization during the 2006 elections, helping with voter engagement efforts in Native American communities.
Laura believes that every person has a purpose and that she has now found her purpose. She is grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference in her community.
