Naomi is currently the director of the Washington Metro office for the Drug Policy Alliance (DPA).
She works primarily in the District of Columbia and Maryland and is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive reform strategy to this country's failed ‘War on Drugs.' Prior to this position, she was DPA's Field Organizer for the Office of National Affairs, in charge of organizing and training drug policy reform activists in key Congressional districts. Between that role at DPA and her current one, she was the National Coordinator for the Campaign to End AIDS, where she organized four days of action in DC involving more than 500 people affected by HIV. She currently serves on the board of directors of PreventionWorks! and the Community HIV/AIDS Mobilization Project (CHAMP).
Ms. Long has also assisted ACORN actions in Oakland for fair housing; organized clergy and churches on sentencing reform issues in Wisconsin with the Racine Interfaith Coalition; and coordinated a winning campaign for treatment-instead-of-incarceration legislation in Maryland with Justice Policy Institute.
Ms. Long is a (proud) native Texan who attended high school and college in Memphis, Tennessee, and is a graduate of Rhodes College. She just bought a house in southeast DC and enjoys doing home improvement work in her spare time.
