Declare Yourself
Declare Yourself is an amazing resource for young voters, or folks working with young voters. They have come up with a guide to voter registration and the voting process called, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Registering to Vote and Voting in the United States (click here to read the guide) that is filled with useful information and state specific laws, deadlines and contact information. Check out http://www.declareyourself.org for more information.
Rock the Vote
Rock the Vote has been at the forefront of young voter mobilization for a number of years and this cycle is no exception. Their edgy, interesting website is fun to browse and conveys important information as well as steps to register. Rock the Vote is also working to organize people on the ground to register voters. Check out http://www.rockthevote.org to get involved.
America Votes
America Votes is a coalition of progressive organizations that have come together to register voters and turn them out in this all important election. America Votes and their partner organizations work together to host Election Action Days around the country. At these events, volunteers from all over the progressive community get together for a day of old fashioned grassroots organizing, voter education, and voter registration. America Votes website has online sign-up for the Election Action Days. Wellstone Action has taken part in the last few Minnesota Election Action Days, we've had a great time and our members are fired up to take action! Check out http://www.americavotes.org to learn more and sign up to participate in an upcoming Election Action Day.
The Minnesota Participation Project
The Minnesota Participation Project is an exciting new effort to support and expand the capacity of Minnesota nonprofit (501)(c)(3) organizations to effectively engage in permissible non-partisan voter engagement efforts-registration, voter education, and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) activities-in 2004 and beyond. If you're working or volunteering at a non-profit and are interested in learning more about what you can do, check out MPP's website at http://www.mncn.org/mpp/index.htm.
